Biography

Richard Blades is a business Consultant and Trainer. He has a manner that motivates virtually everyone with whom he comes in contact and helps those who really want to move on in life to do so. He believes that training should accomplish results, and this quality is rapidly making him one of the most effective speakers/trainers for hospitality, tourism and business organizations locally and regionally.

He has worked extensively in the hospitality and tourism arena both locally and regionally accumulating more than twenty three years experience, which he candidly shares with those who participate in the programs he conducts. He is a timeshare marketing specialist having worked with Divi Resorts in Barbados – Divi Southwinds and Divi Heritage as well as the property of Bougainvillea Beach Resort via its marketing companies. Other properties where he has worked and received training are The St. James Beach Hotels now known as The Elegant Resorts; Heywoods Resorts now Almond Beach Village; Cobblers Cove; and The Sheraton Grand (Paradise Island, Bahamas).

The fields in which he has consulting experience span Information Technology, Medical, Dental, Health, Transport, Church Ministries, Charities, Retail Operations, Sales and Marketing, Banking, Micro Enterprise, Automotive and Telecommunications. His consulting experience is extensive, and he has successfully negotiated funding and incentives which facilitated growth and expansion for a variety of businesses through the use of the operational audits, business development, and strategic planning interventions which were reinforced by training in many instances.

Richard believes in keeping things simple  and his conversational manner makes him easily understood by both the layman and the professional. The delivery of his knowledge and experiences is thought provoking, and has enabled many operations to make a positive turn-around, while simultaneously building an atmosphere of teamwork and harmonious relationships. He has served as a business mentor for both the Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) and the Barbados Investment Development Corporation (BIDC), assisting entrepreneurs to advance their businesses.

Richard Blades is the cofounder of Blades & Blades Consultancy Services. He lives in Barbados, West Indies. He is married to Dr. Pamela Phillips and they have a son Christopher.
