The most important quality to survival

This pandemic has come with its share of challenges. Needless to say, our norms have been displaced and new words entered our daily vocabulary like "pivot". What common qualities spans across people of all countries that they almost seem uniform from one country to another?

Regardless of the domicile you are in there are certain elements that will affect people of all countries, especially during these times. Without definitions, some of the words that come to mind are:

  • Uncertainty

  • Doubt

  • Stress

  • Change

  • Cleanliness/lack of it

  • Interpretation

  • Misinformation

  • Outdated practices

  • Sickness

Qualities for survival include:

  • Trust

  • Environmental awareness

  • Discipline

  • Online transfers

  • Better managed utilities

  • Planning

  • Creativity

  • Innovation

Ponder on the aforementioned points and how they impacted you personally during the pandemic. How do you think others are coping? With people who appeared well suddenly appearing in the obituaries playing on your mind, especially when you didn't know them to be ill?

Consider your mental diet, including what you're watching or listening to, e.g. audio books, music, also consider watching documentaries, and enlightening programs. I personally found watching services online quite helpful to coping within this environment.

We need to be our neighbours keeper. Not everyone has the means to take care of themselves and their families; we therefore must be aware so that there is no unnecessary suffering, especially when we are in a position to assist.

We must therefore display love for one another and all the supporting qualities that demonstrate love. It is the greatest quality one can have - Faith, Hope, Charity and the greatest of these is Charity [Love].
